Some people claiming to be web developers build on Squarespace, Wix, Shopify or a similar tool for people with no web experience. Other times the promise of being easy draws people into these proprietary hosting companies.
The result is usually the same, slop. The sites do not display properly, may be overly complicated and break easily. When things breaks, requires too many clicks and has popups, your customers get annoyed and go elsewhere. We looked at the raw code they produce and it is an ugly bloated mess. These hosting companies lock you into their platforms since they use proprietary systems rather than open source software. You also cannot easily backup and move your website to another host. The host can suddenly raise prices, change their terms or decide they do not like your website and delete it. Basically, you do not really own your own website. We believe you should own your data.

For many websites, we use WordPress which is an open source CMS that powers 40+% of websites. We can move a site on Squarespace to WordPress. We do the big stuff while you can still make updates to your site. For others we build fully custom websites.
